The Coastal Patrol functions efficiently largely because of the generosity and unfailing support of the business people and service clubs of the Ulladulla district.

Many individuals also make contributions, in time or services, that help with the division’s heavy running costs.

Members, too, give more than just their time. Unlike their counterparts in many other voluntary organisations they pay for their own uniforms and training courses.

But the district’s companies and clubs, large and small, keep the financial lifeblood flowing, and they do it for the satisfaction of ensuring the region is a safe boating haven for locals and visitors alike.

Their investment in sea safety produces handsome returns. As a result of their contributions, the patrol is able to rescue an average of about 100 people a year - many of them in the busy holiday periods.

Encouraging supporters is a small group of fundraisers within the patrol who work tirelessly to gather as much community support as they can.

Extra funds are also raised through the monthly harbour side markets and by members acting as stewards at local events such as football and festivals.

With a little help from our friends

Although fully accredited by the State Rescue Board, the division relies entirely upon the generosity of the community - and any income we are able to generate from our fundraising activities - to survive.

The Board has stringent standards for rescue vessels and these impose an obligation on the Patrol to keep them at peak operational standards.

This means an ongoing commitment to safety, service and reliability. For this reason we have a support scheme to help provide the funds essential to maintain this vital community service.

Financial support raised in this way benefits both the Division and the supporter.

There are three categories of supporter:

SUPPORTER 1

For $500 or more, your business name will be displayed on the rescue vessels and details will be displayed on the board at our operations base. You will also receive a Certificate of Appreciation which can be displayed at your premises. In addition, we will display your name and business on circulars we issue at various times through the year.
