Our mission: Safety of Life at Sea                       Ulladulla Division

Welcome to our beautiful harbour home.

The Ulladulla Division of the Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol has been a fixture in Ulladulla Harbour on the mid-South Coast of NSW for close to 35 years.

It has grown from a modest gathering of a few enthusiastic volunteers to one of the State’s largest Marine Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centres.

While still run entirely by these volunteers, it is now recognised as a vital component of NSW’s emergency services.

This site aims to show our community and its many visitors a little of how the division operates.

Hopefully it will encourage others to join the organisation, or at least understand the motivation of those who choose to serve their community by going down to the sea in ships.

June 2009: The Ulladulla Arun-class lifeboat Encounter escorts the Spirit of Mystery as the tiny square-rigged vessel continues her round-the-world voyage from Cornwall, England. The beautiful replica lugger was celebrating the voyage of seven  plucky Cornishmen to Australia more than 150 years ago. Built by famed sailor and adventurer Peter Goss, the wooden vessel was skippered by his brother Andy and left the UK in October last year. By a peculiar twist of fate, Encounter also hails from the Cornish town of Falmouth where she served with the RNLI. For the occasion, Encounter flew  the Cornish  colours at her masthead as Spirit headed for Sydney
